Happy Birthday to Chris! December 25, 2011!

I have been born.  My mom and dad are ecstatic.

For those of you who have been following my development, thank you.  I hope that you have also used these last nine months to pray for all the pre-born children whose lives are in danger from abortion.

I am so glad that my mommy and daddy chose Life for me.  All babies deserve a birthday.

LIFE CHAIN: This Sunday

This Sunday marks the 24th annual National Life Chain in more than 1,800 locations throughout the United States.  Most Life Chains occur from 2 to 3 p.m.

(Need to find a location or a time in Georgia: See http://LifeChain.net)

National Life Chain is a silent witness of the Christian community standing in honor of 54 million babies whose lives have been lost to abortion.”  Everyone of all ages can participate in their local Life Chain.

Pro-life advocates will line the streets and sidewalks with signs like, “Abortion Kills Children”,” Pray to End Abortion” and “Abortion Hurts Women.” The National Life chain serves to remind people of all faiths that abortion destroys the lives of the unborn – and forever scars their mother.

More information can be found at http://NationalLifeChain.org.

Here in Georgia, there are stories that reflect the positive effect of the life chain.  The most memorable is what happened in Savannah about 10 years ago.

A young woman who drove past the Life Chain in Savannah saw the prayerful participants and their signs.  She decided not to have an abortion. Visiting with Life Chain coordinators last year, she said, “This is who I would have aborted ten years ago if you hadn’t been here.”

40 Days for Life comes to a neighborhood near you.

You can help save a life.

You can help save a life.

YOU can help save lives!

This fall, from September 28 – November 6, our community will be one of many cities joining together for the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history — the 40 Days for Life campaign.

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

  • 40 days of prayer and fasting
  • 40 days of peaceful vigil
  • 40 days of community outreach

We are praying that, with God’s help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and throughout America.

Take a stand for life

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local abortion (or Planned Parenthood) facility.

Go to 40 Days for Life to read more about previous campaigns and to sign up for a vigil near you.

Personhood: A Pragmatic Guide to Prolife Victory in the 21st Century and the Return to First Principles in Politics.

by Daniel C. Becker, President of Georgia Right to Life.

Excerpt from the Preface of the book:

With a heaviness of heart, I answered the next call, “Daniel Becker speaking.”

A calm and measured voice inquired, “You live at 1862 Liberty Grove Rd?”

At last–an emotionally stable and quiet tone of voice bringing with it the hope of a reasoned conversation.

“Yes,” was my muted reply.

He stated his name, going on, “I am a former Navy SEAL.  I have seen a picture of you and your family in the news.  You have three beautiful daughters.  I am coming to rape them and then kill you!. . .@#%$%$. . . because of what you just did to MY family!!”. . .

. . .after an interminable period of horrendous verbal assault, I determined that I could stand to take only one more call.

“Daniel Becker,” I answered, my strained voice no doubt reflecting my horror at the realization of the scope of the consequences I had just unleashed upon my timid wife and five innocent older children.

Without identifying themselves, and with a momentary pause on the other end, a mother’s voice accompanied by her two teenage daughters began singing the first stanza of a familiar childhood hymn:

Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God’s command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel’s band. . .

Through the tears coursing down my cheeks, I thanked this homeschooling family for reminding me I was not alone.  This battle for the “hearts and minds” of Georgia’s citizens was going to be monumental in its intensity–that was to be expected; that Christ Jesus was with me and that ultimately “the battle is the Lord’s”–that was a promise!

What some people are saying about Personhood:
“Dan Becker’s book is a great blend of prudence, pragmatism and principled politics; it is certain to cause us to rethink prolife strategy in the 21st century.”

Dr. Donald Wildmon
Founder and Chairman Emeritus of
American Family Association and American Family Radio
