Final Updates from the 40 Days for Life Campaign Locally and Nationally
by Hannah Carter, Director of Education Georgia Right to Life
Just a few weeks ago, we challenged you the readers of GRTL’s E-Newsletter to get involved in 40 Days for Life, a campaign that focuses on prayer and fasting for 40 Days straight in front of an abortion clinic. Well thank you!
Your prayers joined with thousands of other people praying led to over 548 babies saved. In the Atlanta campaign, 6 babies’ lives were saved!
All of this resulted because people were praying to God to intervene in the lives of those involved in and affected by the abortion industry.
Well, just two days ago some news just as exciting came out. The director of the Planned Parenthood in Bryan/College Station, Texas resigned after seeing an ultrasound of a baby that was being aborted.
After seeing 6 campaigns of 40 Days for Life, Abby Johnson realized that the abortion industry was not something she wanted to be a part of. This story is an example of God’s redemptive grace in action. It is also a lesson in being persistent with our prayers.
The first 40 Days for Life campaign began in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic Abby Johnson worked in for eight years. She saw every campaign that the 40 Days for Life group continued to do year after year.
The participants of 40 Days for Life continued to pray for her year after year. James 5:16 declares, “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available .” Indeed, the fervent prayers for Ms. Johnson have been effective. Does anybody feel like shouting, Praise God?
Georgia Right to Life and the Atlanta/Buford 40 Days for Life were able to partner to put up another billboard to reach out to women in unplanned pregnancies on I-985 with the OptionLine number so that women can call in and receive help.
None of this would have been possible without your prayers. At the end of 40 Days for Life, it is easy to see that prayer changes situations and people. But, let’s not forget this in between now and the legislative session. Let’s keep being reminded that God is in control and what is impossible with man is possible with God. (Matthew 19:26)
Just because 40 Days for Life has ended, let’s not stop praying. Who are you going to pray for: the clinic in your town, the pregnant women, the post abortive men and women? There are so many people we can be praying for, but let’s pick someone and focus in on that one person. God is waiting to hear our prayers.
